The Gospel Acrostic

When Yeshua (Jesus) was on this earth, He preached the gospel (good news) that the Kingdom of Heaven was near. He called people to repent and turn back to Elohim (God). Today, when we hear the term “gospel,” it refers to the good news of what Yeshua did for us. Yeshua calls us to believe the truth of the gospel, turn to Elohim (God), repent (turn away) from unrighteous/lawless behavior, put to death our desires and deeds of wickedness, and live righteously — according to His godly standards, so we can develop a relationship with Him and ultimately have eternal life with Him.

GOSPEL ACROSTIC

  • GOD created us for relationship with Him.
  • OUR sins separate us from God (Elohim).
  • SINS cannot be removed by doing good deeds.
  • PAYING the price for sin, Yeshua (Jesus) died and rose again.
  • EVERYONE who trusts in Yeshua alone has eternal life.
  • LIFE with Yeshua starts now and lasts forever.

GOD created us for relationship with Him.

  • Sons of God
    • Romans 8:15-16 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”
  • Bride of Christ
    • 2 Corinthians 11:2 For I feel a divine jealousy for you, since I betrothed you to one husband, to present you as a pure virgin to Christ.

OUR sins separate us from God.

  • Isaiah 59:2 but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God…

SINS cannot be removed by doing good deeds. Yeshua’s blood made propitiation for us. Only Yeshua’s blood can appease the anger of the Father caused by our sins and trespasses.

  • Hebrews 2:17 Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.
  • 1 John 2:2 He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.
  • 1 John 4:10 In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

PAYING the price for sin, Yeshua died and rose again.

  • Isaiah 53:10-12 Yet it was the will of the Lord to crush him; he has put him to grief; when his soul makes an offering for guilt, he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days; the will of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. 11 Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied; by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant, make many to be accounted righteous, and he shall bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore I will divide him a portion with the many, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong, because he poured out his soul to death and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of many, and makes intercession for the transgressors.
  • Matthew 26:28 for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
  • Matthew 28:5-6 But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.
  • 1 Corinthians 6:20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
  • 1 Corinthians 7:23 You were bought with a price; do not become bondservants of men.

EVERYONE who trusts in Jesus alone has eternal life.

  • John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
  • Romans 6:22-23 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

LIFE with Jesus starts now and lasts forever.

  • 1 John 5:11-12 And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.
  • Romans 8:13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
  • We need to work on developing a personal relationship with Elohim as we learn to hear and discern His voice.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I believe the truth of the GOSPEL. Please forgive my sins and give me the gift of the Holy Spirit. Help me faithfully obey your commandments and grow in the grace and knowledge of God. Amen.
